The city of Aurangabad is known for its medieval monuments and cultural heritage and was the seat of the Mughal Empire for a short period. The city boasts of monuments, gardens, tombs and palaces with impeccable architectural designs which attract millions of travelers every year. Including several historical events, the year 1857 also was one of the most eventful years in the history of Aurangabad, as the first revolt against British Raj was started herein.
Start your walk with a visit to the palace built by Auranzgeb in 1692, though has not survived in its original form leaving only ruins one can still see the four entrances and a Nakarkhana for musicians. Dabar hall and the Jumma Masjid are the only parts of the palace to remain, also majestic throne-room of Aurangzeb are now humbly located in a garden and has a rostra appearance.
Further we move to the ruins of Baradari Iwaz Khan Aqueduct which is more of a ghastly interest now, beaten up by the force of the attacks of the Marathas. The Baradari Iwaz Khan Aqueduct shows the style of architecture and now it is also in a state of ruins in the present days.
And finally the Naukhanda Palace built by Malik Ambar, which is now in a very dilapidated condition except for the human and the central part of the diqan behana. As you wander around it the entirety of the feudal past appears to come alive.
