Jama Masjid

Jama Masjid is close to chawri bazaar and so the best way to reach there is via metro. It is one of the largest mosques of the country and one of the greatest examples of mughal architecture.

It has three gates and right from the entrance the place gives a beautiful view of spirituality and devotion and found myself grabbed in the beauty of the place. The gold used on the top of domes made it look more enhancing and appealing. The prayer hall of the Masjid was very spacious. The most interesting thing which I found there was the inscription with black marble on the minarets. It’s a marvelous piece of mughal architecture, made up of red sandstone and white marble. The whole Masjid in itself was giving a spectacular view.

One would absolutely get lost in the beauty of the architecture. One of most spectacular views is to witness so many people worshipping together inside. Every Friday afternoon the place is very crowded, also one is not allowed to wear shoes inside the mosque, though one can carry them in a bag with them.

It’s one of the most serene and calm places in Delhi and gives one of the most wonderful views of Old Delhi from its minaret.
