Red fort, also known as the Lal Qila or “Qila-i-Mubarak” was built by Mughal emperor Shahjahan between 1638 and 1648 for the royal family residence. It was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage in 2007. This walk will take you to an enchanting journey through the 200 years of glory and the reign that marked the zenith of Mughal ingenuity.

Shahjahan built Red Fort as his capital fort when he shifted his capital from Agra to Delhi, to bring esteem to his empire and fulfil his ambitious plans of buildings and architecture. The Red Fort shows a high level of art form and ornamental work which is a fusion of Persian, European and Indian art which resulted in the development of unique Shahjahani style, very rich in form, expression and colour.

Many structures were added to the fort in later years by subsequent kings, some by the British Raj and by the Indian government after the independence of the country. Today it stands not only as fort but as a symbol of architectural brilliance and power.
