Explore the city that belongs to the Sufi Saint Moinuddin Chishti who was patronized and followed by millions of people, rulers, kings and peasants. The main gate to the shrine is the Nizam Gate, followed by the Shahjahani Gate which was erected by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. The Buland Darwaza was built by Sultan Mahmood Khilji, upon which is hoisted the urs flag, marking the beginning of the death anniversary rituals.

Walk Details:

This walk takes you through the roads leading to the shrine with colorful & busy markets and people continuously coming in large numbers to pay homage to the saint. The dargah complex gives one a calm and soothing experience, watching all the people waiting in line just to have a look at the grave of the saint, to shower a carpet or some flowers. The next destination is Adhai din ka Jhonpra, right behind the Dargah at a close walking distance which is actually a Masjid built by Qutub-ud-Din-Aibak. Sultan Iltutmish had subsequently beautified it in AD 1213 with a screen pierced by corbelled engrailed arches which appears in this country for the first time.
