A heaven of tranquility and peace from the hustle and bustle of Delhi, these gardens are very beautiful and home to a wide variety of trees and plants. The gardens derive their name from the fact that these gardens were laid out in 1936 around four monuments built during the Lodi dynasty, the last of the Delhi Sultanate. Over the period of time, a number of renovations have been made to the gardens and the area has witnessed numerous changes around itself.

You can feel the history in the atmosphere, the moment you enter the Lodi Gardens. The Lodi monuments add to the serenity of the environment of the gardens. In those early years of the 20^th century, the landscape around Delhi could be compared to Rome and its surroundings, both were cities sparsely populated, strewn with impressive remnants of former empires. Earlier known as Lady Willingdon Park, after Independence it was more appropriately renamed Lodi Garden and was redesigned in 1968 by J.A. Stein, an eminent architect, who was also involved with many other buildings around the Lodi Garden complex.
